Near Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue, excavation, concrete work and street maintenance work are occurring. Northbound Manhattan Place will be closed intermittently just north of Wilshire Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday to Sunday, and intermittent lane closures along Wilshire Boulevard may be necessary.
Work is expected to increase to 24-hours-a-day at the Western Avenue Staging Yard later this month when twin tunnel boring machines are expected to reach the subway line’s current terminus. The machines will be disassembled and removed from the ground near Wilshire/Western, trucked to the Wilshire/La Brea staging yards and reinserted into the ground to begin tunneling west toward Beverly Hills.
Hauling, deliveries and tunneling support is also ongoing near Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, and from a work zone in the center of Wilshire Boulevard east of Sycamore Avenue. Wilshire Boulevard will be intermittently reduced to one lane in both directions between Sycamore and Mansfield avenues for deliveries. Side streets between Highland Avenue and Detroit Street may also be intermittently closed to support construction.
Near Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, excavation and hauling are ongoing around the future subway station site at Wilshire Boulevard and Ogden Drive.
Intermittent single lane closures may also be in place near Wilshire and Crescent Heights boulevards to support soil improvement activities. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
Excavation, hauling, instrumentation and street restoration are ongoing near Wilshire and La Cienega boulevards, and Wilshire/Gale in Beverly Hills. Gale Drive will be intermittently closed at Wilshire Boulevard to support excavation in the Gale Staging Yard.
Farther west, Metro is establishing a construction staging yards near Wilshire Boulevard and Century Park East. Sound walls are being erected around a parking structure at 2010 Century Park East that is scheduled for demolition. Works hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. Advance utility relocation is also ongoing around Purple Line Extension project work in Century City.
