The city of Beverly Hills Community Service Department brings its summer concert series, Concerts on Canon and PROMS, to Beverly Canon Gardens every Thursday and Saturday through Aug. 31.
All concerts begin at 6 p.m. with a second set at 7:15 p.m. This week’s concerts are The Tokens and PROMS’ Kandace Lindsey.
On Thursday, June 27, as part of the Concerts on Canon series, The Tokens and their special guests walk down memory lane and perform classic favorites from The Chiffons and Tony Orlando & Dawn. They will honor the memory and the music of The Tokens’ founding member Mitch Margo, performing original hits like “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” “Tonight I Fell in Love,” and “Only in My Dreams.” The Tokens have played Concerts on Canon every year since its inception and are an audience favorite.
On Saturday, June 29, Kandace Lindsey, an international singer, songwriter and a trilingual vocalist will give PROMS’ audience a cultural exchange of global rhythms with influences of Brazilian, World and Soul music. Lindsey has toured the world with Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, and performed with Jazz Legend Herbie Hancock. Her voice has recently been featured on a Netflix Original Series “Motown Magic.” She has also performed numerous times in Beverly Hills, most recently at The Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts and the Beverly Hills Holiday Lighting Celebration on Rodeo Drive.
Beverly Canon Gardens is located at 451 Canon Drive in Beverly Hills. Tables and chairs are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, but there is plentiful room for blankets on the large, grassy area. Guests can enjoy a picnic in the park by bringing their own or purchasing a boxed meal from one of the neighboring restaurants.
