Volunteers are sought to help thousands of students at the 26th annual Kids Ocean Day Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup on May 23, at Dockweiler State Beach.
Kids Ocean Day is the culmination of a school assembly program by the Malibu Foundation for Environmental Education. It teaches students about the dangers of litter and how it flows from neighborhoods to the ocean. Nearly 4,000 students from 35 Los Angeles-area schools will participate in a beach cleanup where they will create a giant artwork inspired by the theme “care for what you love.” Participating schools in the local area include Hancock Park Elementary and Melrose Elementary.
