The chorus recognized Don Hahn, an Academy Award-nominated producer of “The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” films, and philanthropists Jennifer and Joe Sliskovich, of Bel Air. The celebration featured musical tributes by 200 young singers from five LACC ensembles led by Artistic Director Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, a three-course dinner and a live auction. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser benefit LACC’s artistic, educational and scholarship programs.
Hahn received LACC’s Bel Canto Award, presented by noted film critic and film historian Leonard Maltin. Hahn’s films have earned 18 Academy Award nominations.
The Sliskoviches, both attorneys and entrepreneurs who have championed LACC for nearly two decades, received the Rebecca Thompson Founder’s Award, presented by LACC Artistic Director Emerita Anne Tomlinson. As cherished LACC alumni parents, former board members and Gala Bel Canto co-chairs and committee members, they are among chorus’ most passionate and dedicated supporters.
LACC serves 400 children ages 6 to 18 in seven choirs.
