In observance of the holiday weekend, construction on the Purple Line Extension will temporarily shut down in Beverly Hills before sunset on Friday, April 19, and resume on Monday, April 22, per an agreement between Metro and the city of Beverly Hills.

Work is also not anticipated along the entire four-mile project on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21, Metro spokesman Dave Sotero said. Temporary work suspensions for holiday periods are a common construction industry practice and are factored into the project without adverse schedule impacts, he added.
Construction will continue on other days around the future subway stations at Wilshire and La Cienega boulevards, and Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Excavation continues from the construction staging yards at Wilshire/La Cienega and Wilshire/Gale. Metro is also starting utility potholing work to identify existing utilities below Wilshire Boulevard between Beverly and Crescent drives.
Additionally, crews will be installing a dewatering well system today, April 18, to prepare the Wilshire/Rodeo station for tunneling. Testing of the water levels beneath Wilshire Boulevard between Beverly and Crescent drives is necessary. The work will require lane closures but two lanes will be maintained in both directions on Wilshire Boulevard.
A two-year closure will likely begin soon on North Canon Drive at Wilshire Boulevard so trucks can access the construction staging yard at Wilshire Boulevard and Reeves Drive. Canon Drive will be reconfigured as a cul-de-sac north of Wilshire Boulevard.
Farther east, Metro is conducting excavation and hauling near Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Ogden Drive will be closed intermittently at Wilshire Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Saturday, to support hauling. Intermittent lane closures may also be necessary to support concrete pours and deck panel maintenance.
Near Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, dirt hauling and tunneling support continues at staging yards on the north and south sides of the intersection, and from a work zone in the center of Wilshire Boulevard just east of Sycamore Avenue. East and west Wilshire Boulevard will be intermittently reduced to one lane between Sycamore and Mansfield avenues for deliveries. Sycamore Avenue will be intermittently blocked at Wilshire Boulevard to support deliveries to the work zone in the center of the street.
Excavation, concrete and street maintenance is also occurring near Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue. Northbound Manhattan Place will be closed intermittently and temporary single lane closures on Wilshire Boulevard may be needed between Western Avenue and Manhattan Place.
