There are several news items in [last] week’s issue that relate to housing development.
Unfortunately, I see little to suggest that the focus would be on affordable and low-cost rental units, which is our greatest need.
Nor do I see much attention given to the impact of these developments on traffic congestion and essential infrastructure. And, who pays for the potholes and piping repairs that are bound to occur as traffic and population density increase?
Let’s hope our City Council members abide by their election promises to best serve the voters rather than the developers. Do you think restricting donations from developers to those running for office might help in this matter, or will the developers find ways around it? Greed is a powerful force. And what about the dire need for housing and helping the homeless?
