Los Angeles Children’s Chorus will honor Don Hahn, Academy Award-nominated producer of the blockbuster Disney films “The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “Maleficent,” at its Gala Bel Canto on Wednesday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m. at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
The celebration features musical tributes by some 200 young singers from five LACC ensembles led by Artistic Director Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, a three-course dinner and a live auction. Philanthropists Jennifer and Joe Sliskovich will also be honored. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser benefit the chorus’ outstanding artistic, educational and scholarship programs.
Hahn will receive LACC’s Bel Canto Award. His films have earned 18 Academy Award nominations. The Sliskoviches, both attorneys and entrepreneurs who have championed LACC for nearly two decades, will receive LACC’s Rebecca Thompson Founder’s Award. As cherished LACC alumni parents, former board members and Gala Bel Canto co-chairs and committee members, they are among LACC’s most passionate and dedicated supporters. Their son Gregory and daughter Natalie are alumni of LACC, with their son a founding member of the Young Men’s Ensemble and daughter a member of LACC’s Chamber Singers.
Tickets are $400. The Millennium Biltmore Hotel is located at 506 S. Grand Ave. For information, call (626)793-4231, ext. 118, or visit galabelcanto.com.
