The Los Angeles LGBT Center is holding an opening ceremony for the first phase of its Anita May Rosenstein campus on Sunday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will include tours, entertainment and refreshments. The opening of the two-acre complex, which broke ground two years ago, coincides with the center’s 50th anniversary.

The complex includes 100 beds for homeless youth, a new senior community center, youth drop-in center and youth academy, as well as expanded space for programming, administrative offices and more. The facility will enable the center to expand intergenerational services and will be its flagship facility. Following the opening of the Anita May Rosenstein campus, the center’s current headquarters at the McDonald/Wright Building in Hollywood will be transformed into an LGBT health center.

Envisioned by the center more than a decade ago, the campus was brought to fruition by more than 305 capital campaign donors, including an $8 million lead gift by Anita May Rosenstein and her family foundations. Design Architects for the project were Leong Leong and Killefer Flammang Architects, and the executive architects were Killefer Flammang Architects. Phase II of the campus, scheduled to open in early 2020, will include 99 units of affordable housing for seniors and 25 supportive housing apartments for youth.
