LA Animal Services is encouraging the public to adopt a new furry friend during the “Chi-Pitty-Kitty” event on Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21, at all city animal shelters.
The cost of dog adoptions will be reduced to $52 for adults, $100 for puppies. Cat adoptions are free based on a grant provided by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
“This event is meant to connect people with adoptable chihuahuas, pit bull terriers and cats, and to celebrate how pets can also take care of their owners, providing both physical and mental health benefits,” said Bill Crowe, director of the Pet Care Foundation, which is partnering with LA Animal Services for the event.
“This is a great time to add a cat or dog to your family,” added LA Animal Services General Manager Brenda Barnette. “Regardless of whether you live in an apartment or house, you’ll be able to find many wonderful dogs and cats and meet the one that’s right for you.”
A $20 license fee will apply to all Los Angeles residents who adopt dogs four months and older. The facility closest to the local area is the West Los Angeles shelter at 11361 West Pico Blvd.
