Each month, guests can indulge in a special multi-course seafood dinner prepared by Michelin-starred chef Michael Cimarusti at Il Pesce Cusina at Eataly LA. Tonight, April 11, Cimarusti will whip up new and refreshing Italian dishes highlighting seafood. Each course is inspired by his own upbringing and roots from Bari, a port city on the Adriatic Sea and the capital of southern Italy’s Puglia region. Trejo’s Coffee and Donuts expands breakfast
New items include a breakfast burrito filled with scrambled eggs, cheese, bean dip, tortilla strips, salsa and tater tots for $6.95. Add avocado for $2 and bacon for $3. The breakfast sandwich is a nacho donut, scrambled egg, avocado and chipotle cream for $5.95. Add Dijon candied bacon for $2. Brunch at Petty Cash Taqueria
Chefs Walter and Margarita Manzke’s newest brunch menu includes chilaquiles, mushroom sopes and a Mexican breakfast sandwich. Petty Cash’s carne asada, carnitas, fish and mushroom tacos are also available during brunch. New brunch cocktails include Champurrado, which is flavored with chocolate, hazelnut and corn atole and served hot with a mezcal shot. The Verde Chelada is served with celery, tomatillo, pasilla, poblano and Mexican lager with salt. The Salsa Maria is made with mezcal, tomato, cilantro, chile and house Tajin. Passover at Jar
On April 19, Chef Suzanne Tracht will serve her traditional Jewish holiday dinner designed to bring families and friends together. The four-course dinner is served after an informal Seder service officiated by Rabbi Ellen Nemhauser starting at 5:30 p.m. Dinner begins with tray-passed house-cured salmon, chopped liver and English pea purée. The first-course is a choice of Tracht’s matzo ball soup with lemongrass broth or butter lettuce salad with pencil asparagus, spring radish, sieved egg and pickled-leek vinaigrette. For the main course, guests may choose from Jar’s signature pot roast with carrots, caramelized onions, prunes and fingerling potatoes or sautéed Alaskan halibut with favas, scallion butter and celery root purée. The evening is complete with desserts of ice cream sandwiches, lemon cheesecake with fresh strawberries, and chocolate covered Matzah. Vegetarian and vegan options are available on request and will be determined by the chef on the day of the event. The traditional Jar menu is not available. AR Cucina Passover and Easter specials
Passover special on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, will be prepared by Chef Akasha Richmond. Passover dinner specials include Haroset all’Italiana and Matzo made with almonds, pine nuts, dates, oranges, raisins and figs; Tuscan chopped liver and Matzo; Matzo lasagna; grilled lamb chops; and baby artichokes fried in olive oil. Finish with Passover cookies that include flourless almond cookies, hazelnut biscotti and dark chocolate Matzo brittle with pistachios and sea salt. Passover dinner is served both nights from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. The menu is in addition to AR Cucina’s regular offerings of salads, pizzas, pastas, and small and large plates of Italian specialties. Akasha Restaurant Passover
Chef Akasha Richmond presents her acclaimed Passover Seder on the second night, Saturday, April 20. It’s led by author and spiritual leader Rabbi Mark Borovitz of Beit T’Shuvah. A reception starts at 6:15 p.m., with chopped chicken liver, vegetable with walnut “liver,” and Matzo or gluten-free Matzo. At 7 p.m., the Seder begins with a traditional Seder plate before dinner is served. The dinner is “kosher style” and contains no dairy. Starters include Sephardic fish balls and matzo ball soup. Entrées are a choice of red wine-braised brisket, chicken Tagine, eggplant Melanzane with almond milk “Ricotta,” Roman-style baby artichokes, and Weiser farm carrots and fingerling potatoes. Finish with Akasha’s family-style desserts including flourless orange pistachio cake and berries, chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons and Passover cookies. Pricing is $110 per adult including Mt.
