The Mid City West Community Council Transportation, Parking and Streetscape Committee invites the community to a free forum on the Metro Crenshaw Line Northern Extension, which will take place at Pan Pacific Recreation Center on April 25 from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m.
Cosponsored by the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council, the forum will have presentations by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and by the city of West Hollywood, followed by public comment and Q&A.
“After attending one of the four community meetings that Metro and West Hollywood held in March, it became clear that the neighborhood councils should play an important role in informing our stakeholders of the public comment period which will help determine which of the five alignment options is ultimately moved forward,” said Henry van Moyland, a Mid City West board member. “Since four of the five proposed alignments touch our neighborhood, we were the right neighborhood council to take the lead on this issue.”
“The Crenshaw Line will bring an important north-south rail option to our area. It’s crucial that stakeholders understand the variables of the proposed alignments, from project cost, to projected ridership, to station locations and line configurations,” said Conrad Starr, Transportation Committee chair for the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council. “For example, an at-grade alignment along San Vicente would look very different from a below-grade line up Fairfax or an aerial track over La Brea. Stakeholders need to understand these factors when they provide their input to Metro.”
