The Pasadena Playhouse welcomes London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art for a summer acting intensive running from July 22 through Aug. 2.
Practical, challenging and fast-paced, the two-week course is ideal for students wishing to become more confident in performing classical work from Shakespeare’s Elizabethan and Jacobean periods. Combining scene study with technical classes in movement and voice, the program develops a greater understanding of the challenges involved in working with classical texts. It will be taught by the tutors who lead LAMDA’s full-time courses, giving participants a taste of British conservatory training.
Participants in the summer acting intensive course must be 18 or older; some acting experience is required. The application deadline is April 30.
Auditions will be scheduled for qualified applicants. All applicants must prepare two contrasting monologues (no longer than three minutes each) from classical texts. Auditions will be held at the Pasadena Playhouse.
Tuition may be paid in full or by installment. Pasadena Playhouse will offer a limited number of scholarships. Students may apply for financial assistance through an essay-based application.
