In partnership with the Consulate General of Germany, Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust presents a special concert by celebrated husband and wife classical musicians, bassoonist Friedrich Edelmann and cellist Rebecca Rust, on Sunday, March 17, at 4 p.m. at the museum.

Rust and Edelmann have played together in duos, trios and larger chamber music groups in Europe, the United States and Japan for over 30 years. Rust, a native of California, has performed solo concerts and radio productions in Europe, the United States, Israel, China and Japan. She plays a Master-Cello by William Forster (1791) formerly owned by Prince Charles.

Edelmann grew up in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He served as the principal bassoonist of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and has won several first prizes in German national competitions.

The duo will perform works by Bach and Mozart, as well as Holocaust survivor Hans Gál and Israeli composer Max Stern.

In Kaiserslautern, Germany, in November, the duo performed a concert of compositions by forbidden or forgotten Jewish composers in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht and the destruction of the beautiful Synagogue of Kaiserslautern. Their new CD, “Songs Without Words,” was released by Centaur Records on March 1.

Admission to the museum and the concert is free, but tickets to the concert must be reserved in advance.
