Join Hollywood Temple Beth El in the merry-making of Purim for the reading of excerpts from the Megillah, sharing in humor and enjoying Purim refreshments Wednesday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m.
The festival of Purim celebrates the survival of the Jewish people against all odds, based on the experience of the Jews of Iran 2,500 years ago.
There will be a special screening of the Jewish film classic, “Hester Street,” a recreation of the struggles and efforts of “greenhorn” immigrants making their way in the strange shores of America over a century ago.
There will also be a performance by a Russian folk dance ensemble.
Merry-makers are asked to come in costume, bring a dessert or light liquor to share with eight others and bring canned or boxed food for charity.
Hollywood Temple Beth El is located at 1317 N. Crescent Heights Blvd.
