An advertisement in the March 12, 1963, issue of the Park Labrea News invited guests to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Tom Bergin’s (New) Old Horseshoe. The Fairfax Avenue Irish restaurant and pub was a perennial favorite for celebrations on the holiday every March, and was a favorite gathering place for local residents and visitors throughout the year. Next week, the city will consider naming the venue a historic-cultural monument. Tom Bergin’s closed after a big St. Patrick’s Day send-off party last year.
