The city of West Hollywood has announced a partnership with the company Ring to provide discounts for residents of the city’s east side who wish to purchase home security devices.
A launch event for the Ring Video Doorbell Rebate Program will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Plummer Park’s Fiesta Hall, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd. Admission is free and the program is limited to the first 200 residents.
Funded by the city of West Hollywood and Ring, the program will enable 200 households to receive a $100 promotional code rebate for Ring products. The program is part of the WeHo Smart City Initiative, which aims to improve residential security.
The program is open to West Hollywood residents who live within an east side neighborhood watch area and attend the launch event. Residents can verify eligibility by visiting weho.org/smartcitycam.
The rebate program will incentivize the purchase of Ring video doorbells and Ring security devices that connect to users’ mobile devices via an app. Residents are notified when the device’s motion sensor is activated or if someone rings their doorbell. They can also view the camera’s video anytime. Optional video subscription services are available for purchase for residents who want to save Ring recordings to view at a later time.
Residents seeking to participate must provide proof of residency with a valid ID and a copy of a utility bill. Depending on availability, Ring will extend the offer to West Hollywood residents who attend the launch but do not live in an eastside neighborhood watch area after the event has concluded. If there are not enough people interested at the launch, the city will post an application to its website, allowing additional residents to participate until the program funding limit has been reached. Discounts will be applied toward the purchase of devices during checkout at the event.
Ring is also offering $30 off additional security devices, with a maximum of two per household, and 20 percent discounts on accessories. Ring will only accept credit card purchases; no cash or checks.
