The city of West Hollywood’s Homeless Initiative addresses homelessness year-round with a multidisciplinary, multiagency, collaborative response.
During the holiday season, the city and its community partners work to raise awareness to ensure that the needs of people experiencing homelessness in the community are addressed with compassion, care and connection to support and services.
“The city’s Homeless Initiative works in close partnership with our contracted and collaborative nonprofit social services providers, the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, and Los Angeles County agencies to address homelessness in our city,” said West Hollywood Councilman John Heilman, a member of the council’s Subcommittee on Homelessness. “This includes direct street outreach services to our homeless community members that offer shelter, substance abuse treatment, health care, mental health services, housing opportunities and more.”
As the calendar year draws to a close, the city of West Hollywood is sharing a few ways that people can support the efforts of the city’s Homeless Initiative and contribute to collective efforts to address homelessness.
For people in the community who would like to make financial contributions to organizations that provide services to homeless people in West Hollywood, there are several community partners that provide direct services in the city, including Ascencia, Housing Works, the Los Angeles LGBT Center and Step Up on Second. Nonperishable food donations can be made through the Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles.
