YWCA Greater Los Angeles held its 125th anniversary gala on Nov. 1, at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. Actresses and activists Rita Moreno and Barbara Eden were honored for their support of the organizations and women’s programs. Moreno received the Soromundi Award, and Eden was recognized with the Legacy Film and Television Honor.

The evening also paid tribute to four civic leaders defending the rights of vulnerable women and children. Labor leader Dolores Huerta received the Angel Award; civil rights lawyer Constance L. “Connie” Rice received the Legacy Award; Deborah Flint, CEO of Los Angeles World Airports, received the Corporate Visionary Champion Award; and PBS SoCal COO and Vice President for Education and Community Engagement Jamie Myers was awarded the Legacy Media Award. More than $350,000 was raised for YWCA Greater Los Angeles.

Guests included Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department General Manager Jan Perry, Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Nury Martinez, 6th District. Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell, 13th District, and YWCA board member Alva Mason, served as event co-chairs.

Founded in 1894, YWCA Greater Los Angeles addresses the emerging and ongoing needs of the community.
