A 28-year-old woman was sentenced on Nov. 26 to 16 years to life in state prison for the murder of her husband in their Koreatown apartment last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Misun Yoo, a Korean national, was sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen. Jurors found Yoo guilty last month of one count of second-degree murder, as well as a special allegation that she used a knife in the commission of a murder.
Deputy District Attorneys Irene Lee and Colby Cano, of the Family Violence Division, prosecuted the case. The prosecutors said the homicide was an act of domestic violence. On July 31, 2017, Yoo fatally stabbed her 31-year-old husband, Tae Kyung Sung, in the chest after an argument. Alcohol consumption was a factor in the argument and stabbing, according to prosecutors.
