Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in obtaining information about a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision on Nov. 10.
At approximately 1:05 a.m., a driver struck a pedestrian near Virgil Avenue and First Street. The vehicle was traveling southbound on Virgil Avenue when it struck the pedestrian, who was running southbound on Virgil Avenue, outside of a marked crosswalk.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at scene. He was identified as Andy Olivera Monoscano, 18.
The hit-and-run driver did not stop or render aid, as required by law. Drivers are reminded that if they are involved in a collision, they must pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency responders and remain at the scene.
