Austin Mikel Clay, 24, pleaded no contest to one felony count of vandalism causing over $400 in damage, according to Deputy District Attorney Jeff Megee. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Kerry Bensinger sentenced Clay to three years of formal probation, one day in county jail and 20 days of community labor. He also was ordered to attend psychological counseling and pay $9,404 in restitution to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, as part of a negotiated plea agreement.
On July 25, Clay used a pickaxe to smash the star located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd. The defendant left the scene but turned himself over to police the following day.
