The Los Angeles Unified School District has announced that Jaime Jimenez will serve as the new general manager of LAUSD’s public television station, KLCS.

Jimenez has more than 20 years of experience in the broadcasting industry, including management of sales, operations and news. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles that have contributed to significant audience and revenue growth.

“We want KLCS to be the voice of public education in our community,” LAUSD Superintendent Austin Beutner said. “Our plan is to engage students in all facets of the work – behind the camera, in front of the camera and in programming. We also want to engage families, teachers and our communities in this work.”

KLCS – known as the “education station” – is one of only five public television stations in the nation operated by a school district. Upgrades completed this year include a state-of-the art new studio. Recent technological improvements have enabled KLCS to produce high-definition, multi-camera field productions, including live broadcasts.

“We are very excited for Jaime Jimenez to join the KLCS team,” LAUSD board President Mónica García said. “KLCS has been a pillar in Los Angeles Unified for decades, and we are looking forward to the talent, experience and perspective that Mr. Jimenez will bring to Los Angeles Unified and the entire community.”

Jimenez attended LAUSD schools and graduated from Loyola Marymount University.

“I am excited to have been chosen for this important role within Los Angeles Unified,” Jimenez said. “I look forward to the core mission of providing programming and services that can educate, inform and enlighten our students, families and the entire Los Angeles community.”
