The Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and Smart & Final hosted the 14th annual Community Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway on Nov. 16 at Dodger Stadium. Pitcher Kenley Jansen and Dodger alumni joined volunteers in distributing a complimentary turkey, fixings and reusable canvas bags to 1,200 pre-selected families, as well as nonprofit community organizations that will distribute them later to families in need.

The Dodgers partnered on the giveaway with the offices of Congressman Jimmy Gomez, California state Sen. Kevin de León, California State Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo, County Supervisor Hilda Solis, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and City Councilmen Mitch O’Farrell and Gil Cedillo. Representatives of each government office selected organizations to benefit from the giveaway. Turkeys and fixings were also provided to students in the Dodgers’ Community of Schools, a community partnership to improve the education and wellness of children attending local schools and living in communities surrounding Dodger Stadium. Beneficiaries also included participants of Dodgers RBI (LADF’s youth baseball and softball program), residents from communities surrounding Dodgers Dreamfields and the Bresse Foundation, a nonprofit organization supported by LADF.
