A convicted felon serving a life sentence for a 2007 murder was sentenced on Oct. 3 to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing three other people more than a decade ago, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
In May, Gilton Pitre, 46, pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and admitted two special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder with a prior murder conviction. Pitre murdered a woman who went by the name Maribel Medina on or about Jan. 31, 2004, and a second woman on or about Sept. 2, 2004. The second victim, Irma Barboza, was approximately eight months pregnant.
Both women were transients whose bodies were dumped in the downtown Los Angeles area. Pitre was sentenced to 110 years to life in state prison for the first-degree murder of Alyssa Gomez, a 15-year-old runaway whom he strangled in 2007 in a motel room on Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake.
