Police are searching for a suspect in the murder of a homeless man in Hollywood during the early morning hours of Oct. 11.
The victim, who was in his late 40s, collapsed in the 7500 block of Sunset Boulevard, mid-block between Curson and Sierra Bonita avenues. A passerby called 911 at approximately 1 a.m. and an ambulance was sent to the scene. Paramedics called officers from the LAPD’s Hollywood Division when they realized the man had been stabbed. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the West Bureau Homicide Unit determined the victim had likely been stabbed in an alley behind businesses in the 7500 block of Sunset Boulevard and walked to the location where he collapsed. Detectives followed a trail of the victim’s blood to the alley, but no suspects were located, said Det. Sharon Kim.
No motive has been established, and police are hoping witnesses can provide information. Investigators are also checking security cameras in an attempt to identify a suspect.
