The performance celebrates the works of Fryderyk Chopin, Johannes Brahms and Aleksander Tansman. Duo Klavitarre features the Polish husband and wife duo of pianist Jolanta and guitarist Maciej Ziemski. They are celebrated for a unique repertoire of classical, baroque, romantic and modern musical selections.
The pair offer singular arrangements of time-honored compositions. The Ziemskis are the founders and artistic directors of international guitar festivals in Grotniki, Poland, and Jarosław, Poland. They also established and operate the International Guitar Festival in Bremen, Germany, and founded the Bremen-based private music school, ConTakte.
For the performance at LAMOTH, Duo Klavitarre will be accompanied by guitarist Robin Braun and pianist Annika Schukow. Tansman, a composer whose work will be featured, was a Jewish French-Polish composer who fled Europe for Los Angeles in 1941 and resumed his career in France after the war.
Adult tickets are $25; $15 for students. LAMOTH is located at 100 S. The Grove Drive. For information, call (323)651-3704, or visit lamoth.org.
