Vicky McCoy, 51, was taken into custody around noon by officers from the Wilshire Division. McCoy was identified recently by detectives who conducted an extensive investigation into the June 30 stabbing.
“They got a tip that she was in a certain area downtown,” Det. Garrett Breegle said. “Wilshire Division officers arrested her and she was transported to the Wilshire station and booked.”
McCoy was booked for attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a victim who lived in the neighborhood and confronted her at a vacant residence in the 7300 block of Waring Avenue. The vacant residence, which did not belong to the victim, was near Poinsettia Place, where a homeless encampment was located for months until the area was recently cleared in July. The victim, who was stabbed in the torso, was transported to a hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening wound.
