A 34-year-old West Hollywood resident has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father and stabbing his mother and sister on July 8 in an apartment in the 8700 block of Shoreham Drive.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., deputies from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon occurring at the apartment. They found the suspect, Jose Emanuel Raselbach, at the scene, along with three victims suffering from stab wounds.
The suspect’s father was pronounced dead at the scene. Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office spokesman Ed Winter identified the decedent as Abraham Raselbach, 66.
The victim’s unidentified mother and sister were taken to a hospital. The sister, who is in her 30s, was hospitalized in serious condition. The mother sustained superficial wounds and was treated and released.
“It seems like some type of argument set it off,” said Lt. Scott Hoglund, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau, who added that he did not know exactly what the argument was about.
A knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack was recovered at the scene. Raselbach was arrested and booked at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.
On July 10, the defendant was charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The charges include allegations of a prior conviction, causing great bodily injury and using a deadly and dangerous weapon – a knife. Arraignment was postponed until July 24. Raselbach is being held on $3 million bail.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call sheriff’s department homicide investigators at (323)890-5500.
