In recognition of the 75th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust presents a summer film series commemorating resistance against the Nazis.

The films in the series, curated by journalist and producer Tom Teicholz, will be shown on consecutive Thursdays beginning at 6 p.m. at the museum.

“Partisans of Vilna” (1986) will be shown on June 14. The documentary is the story of the men and women who formed the Jewish partisan movement and fought the Nazis in Lithuania. Directed by Joshua Waletzky, “Partisans of Vilna” includes interviews with 40 partisan survivors and rare archival footage. A question and answer session moderated by Teicholz with Professor Holli Levitsky, director of Jewish studies at Loyola Marymount University, will follow.

On June 21, “Unlikely Heroes” (2003), a documentary narrated by Sir Ben Kingsley, will be shown. It tells previously unknown stories of defiance and heroism against the Nazis in the most desperate days of the Holocaust. Teicholz will moderate a discussion with film director Richard Trank following the screening.

The series concludes June 28 with “Uprising” (2001), director Jon Avnet’s television movie about the Warsaw Ghetto revolt. The film will be followed by discussion.
