Themed “For the Generations” and taking place at Mahale Mountain, home to the zoo’s chimpanzee troop, the dinner offers a meal focused on sustainability – from agriculture to food and wine production to wildlife conservation.
Zoo executive chef Brad Robertson prepares a custom four-course, farm-to-table menu inspired by the environmentally friendly wines by Ancient Peaks Winery. Curator of mammals Candace Sclimenti introduces the multigenerational chimpanzee troop and shares stories about a recent trip to Cameroon where she trained staff at Limbe Wildlife Centre and Ape Action Africa.
Tickets are $150 per person and $140 per GLAZA member. Seating is limited, and advance online ticket purchase is required. The event is open to adults age 21 and older. For tickets, visit lazoo.org/sustainablewinedinners.
The L.A. Zoo’s Roaring Nights summer series also returns, offering explorations into music, art and wildlife on Fridays June 29, July 20, Aug. 17 and Sept. 14.
Guests 21 and older are invited to travel through the exclusive after-hours zoo path until 8 p.m., experiencing special animal encounters, feedings and keeper talks while dining from food trucks. On June 29, DJ Richard Blade will spin hits from the 1980s while the group Flashback Heart Attack performs.
General admission tickets are $21 and $16 for GLAZA members. For tickets, visit lazoo.org/roaringnights.
