The city of Beverly Hills, in partnership with the University of California Cooperative Extension, will offer the “Grow LA Victory Garden” workshop beginning Sunday, April 8, from noon to 3 p.m. at the demonstration garden at Greystone Mansion & Gardens: The Doheny Estate.

The workshop will run four Sundays through April 29, and is taught by master gardener George Pessin and other certified master gardeners from the UC Cooperative Extension.

Instruction will cover the following topics: planning, seed starting, raised beds, container gardening and plant selection on April 8; tools, soil structure, soil preparation, plant nutrition, organic fertilizers, transplanting, irrigation and mulching on April 15; integrated pest management, organic pesticides, composting and worm composting on April 22; and pollination, seed saving, fruit trees, harvesting, review and graduation on April 29.

The price is $15 for each class ($12 for Beverly Hills residents), or $56 for the entire series ($45 for Beverly Hills residents).

Those who take all four classes will receive a certificate upon completion.
