Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer (center) convened the first meeting of his Los Angeles School Safety Blue Ribbon Panel on April 8 at Hollywood High School. The meeting was co-hosted by Los Angeles Unified School District board Vice President Nick Melvoin.

The panel will meet in each of the seven LAUSD board districts and will engage parents, teachers, administrators, students and community members in discussions on school safety. The panel considered testimony from LAUSD interim Superintendent Vivian Ekchian and LAUSD School Police Department Chief Steven Zipperman. A report will be issued after the panel’s final meeting, likely in early summer.

Additional panel meetings will be held on Saturday, April 28, in the board’s 7th District; on Sunday, April 29, in the 1st District; Saturday, May 12, in the 3rd District; Saturday, June 2, in the 5th District, and Sunday, June ,3 in the 2nd District.
