Rosewood Avenue Elementary School will become a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Magnet School beginning in August, with a focus on urban planning and urban design.

Rosewood is the only school in the Los Angeles Unified School District with the unique STEM theme. To ensure all students are prepared with 21st century skills, Rosewood Avenue Elementary has already implemented the theme this year.

On Thursday, March 14, which is also Pi Day, students will engage in a day of STEM programs and will host the inaugural “STEM Family Night.” Additionally, everyone is invited to join the Rosewood community on May 17 for an open house celebrating the STEM learning that has taken place and to see project-based learning in action at the school science fair. All projects and experiments are being conducted at the school in collaborative groups, with students learning scientific methods. Also on May 17 is the school’s “Spring Festival” which includes games, inflatables, food trucks and fun.
