The Ebell of Los Angeles will host a performance by the Charles Owens Band on Friday, Feb. 16. Doors open at 7:15, with the show starting at 8 p.m.
The performance is part of the Ebell’s “Live in the Lounge” series. Owens, a master of woodwind and brass instruments, has performed with masters such as Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Dave Grusin, Gladys Knight, Barbra Streisand and Frank Zappa.
Also known as the “La La Land Sax Man” after appearing in the award-winning film, Owens has released two albums through Discovery Records. He teaches jazz performance at UCLA and serves with The Grammy Foundation’s “Jazz in Schools” program.
The concert is open to the public and includes a cash bar. Tickets are $35 for Ebell members; $40 for nonmembers.
