Break out the beads, it’s time to celebrate Mardi Gras at The Original Farmers Market, corner of Third and Fairfax.

The 29th annual Mardi Gras celebration will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 10 and 11, as well as Fat Tuesday, Feb. 13. The Market will be decorated in purple, green and gold, and zydeco and Cajun music will fill the air. Enjoy traditional New Orleans fare such as Dixie beer, beignets, Cajun gumbo and jambalaya from The Gumbo Pot. Festivities include bead throwing, crafts and more.

The three-day event also offers fun for pet owners. The Dog Bakery and the Market will host the 11th annual “Mutti Gras” pet parade on Feb. 10 from noon to 1 p.m. on the Market Plaza. Four-legged friends will be dressed in creative costumes, and the “Mutti Gras” Jester will award prizes to the best dressed king and queen in the small, medium, large and Jester’s Pick-Anything Goes categories.

Musical groups Eddie Baytos & The Nervis Brothers, Bonnie Musique Zydeco, California Feetwarmers, Lisa Haley & The Zydekats, Mudbug Brass Band and The Zydeco Mudbugs will entertain the crowd.
