Fancifull Fine Food and Baskets is holding “A Fancifull Event: Show Your Love Tasting/Fundraiser” on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. to support the recovery efforts in Santa Barbara.
The suggested donation is $20, with all donations being donated to the United Way’s Thomas Fire recovery program. Additionally, 10 percent of sales during the event will be donated to First-In Fire Foundation, which supports local fire stations in Hancock Park and the Miracle Mile.
The Thomas Fire and resulting mudslides have been devastating to Santa Barbara. Businesses are struggling and some have closed because the fire destroyed holiday business, which made it difficult for owners to ship products. Many small businesses don’t have reserves to overcome a loss in business, particularly in December, when some businesses bring in half their annual revenues.
Fancifull Fine Food and Baskets buys products from producers in the area affected by fires and mudslides. To help the businesses and residents, the Feb. 10 event will feature wine and food from the Santa Barbara region including truffles, cheese, pistachios and other delights. Basket makers will also help attendees create a perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
The event will also feature information on the First-In Fire Foundation and Community Emergency Responder Training, which prepares people for emergencies such as natural disasters.
