Police have identified a decedent whose body was found in the driver’s seat of a car in West Hollywood on Oct. 7 as Arkadiy Orlov, 48.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy earlier this week and the cause of death was deferred pending toxicology tests. The Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department is conducting an investigation, but police do not suspect foul play.
“It is believed he died of natural causes,” said Sgt. Guillermo Morales, of the sheriff’s department’s Homicide Bureau. “There was no trauma seen on the body. It’s a death investigation.”
Morales said the victim’s vehicle was parked in a lot at a mini-mall in the 7900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. Police were notified at approximately 6:35 p.m. by people in one of the nearby businesses. At first, they thought he was sleeping, but called police after he remained motionless for several hours, Morales said. Orlov’s last known address was in Winnetka, but family members said he had recently been living with a girlfriend in West Hollywood.
