The Fillmore & Western Railway is hosting the S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Music) Festival on Saturday, Nov. 4 and Sunday, Nov. 5, and is inviting the public to view the 104-year-old #14 operating steam engine and two movie prop steam engines.

Hop aboard for rides on vintage trains powered by the #14 Steam Engine during both days of the festival, which is part science fair and part traveling circus. The S.T.E.A.M. Festival creates a world that co-exists in the old train and steam museums on the West Coast, featuring colorful entertainers, contraptions and spectacles. Musical entertainment and a curated ensemble of steampunk music will add to the festive atmosphere.
Visitors can also enjoy a vendor alley with vintage merchandise. Steam machines will run at the Steam Engine and Machine display, and the museum will showcase steam powered equipment. A scavenger hunt will take children to all corners of the festival grounds to learn interesting S.T.E.A.M. facts. The festival also features educational panels about historical items like antique cameras and musical instruments such as theremins. There will also be improvisation workshops, junk build-offs and more.
Vintage train rides are $25; $15 for children 4 to 12; $10 for children 2 to 3; and free for those 23 months and younger. RSVP requested for the train rides, which depart at 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m. from 364 Main St., Fillmore. Advance admission to the festival is $10; $15 day of the event.
