Work on the Purple Line Extension subway project is ongoing along Wilshire Boulevard, and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is providing updates about construction.

At the western end of the project near Wilshire and La Cienega boulevards, potholing, piling, instrumentation and steel deliveries will continue. Excavation and dirt hauling is also ongoing near Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, and Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue (pictured).

Metro also announced that potholing and jet grouting preparation is also occurring near Wilshire Boulevard and Cloverdale Avenue. Instrumentation work continues near Wilshire Boulevard and Highland Avenue, and Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue.

On Saturday, Sept. 23 from 2 a.m. to 11pm, eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be closed to allow for the relocation of a sewer system west of the Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue intersection.

Starting in mid-October, pile installation will occur on Wilshire Boulevard between Western Avenue and Manhattan Place, and within a staging yard located at Wilshire/Manhattan Place. Full weekend closures of Wilshire Boulevard between Manhattan Place and Western Avenue will be required. Anticipated work hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for drilling, and 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for the setting of concrete and pilings.
