Inspector Joey Marron, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, said firefighters from Fire Station 8 in West Hollywood were on their way to another call when they noticed smoke coming from the building at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Ogden Drive. They stopped and began extinguishing the fire, which erupted in office space toward the front of the building, Marron said. He did not have specific information about the call the firefighters were initially heading to, but said it was a non-life threatening incident that was handled by other first responders.
Approximately 60 firefighters extinguished the blaze in 45 minutes. No injuries were reported. Marron said Tuesday that the blaze caused $300,000 to the structure and $150,000 to its contents. No vehicles were inside when the fire erupted.
The building was deemed uninhabitable until repairs are made. Executive Car leasing is currently operating in a temporary facility at 7985 Santa Monica Blvd., said senior vice president Robert J. Fox.
