A 12-inch water main ruptured on Monday morning on Cahuenga Boulevard just south of Willoughby Avenue, forcing crews to close Cahuenga Boulevard in both directions. The rupture occurred at approximately 1 a.m., causing minor flooding and street damage. Water service was cut off to 20 residences. Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) spokeswoman Ellen Cheng said crews repaired the pipe and street damage and service was restored at 7 p.m. on July 31. The pipe was 87 years old, she added. DWP crews also repaired an 8-inch water main that ruptured on July 31 at approximately 8 p.m. at 6404 Wilshire Blvd. Service was cut off to 15 customers. Minor flooding damaged the street, forcing crews to close two curbside lanes from La Jolla Avenue to San Vicente Boulevard. The completion time for the work was unavailable.
