Nick Melvoin

New Los Angeles Unified School District board of education member Nick Melvoin was scheduled to be sworn in to his first term today at 10 a.m. in the Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts Concert Hall.

A reception was scheduled for 11 a.m., and a celebratory cocktail party was sceduled for 6 p.m. at City Hall, on the steps across from Grand Park.

Melvoin defeated incumbent school board member Steve Zimmer in the May runoff election, after Zimmer and Melvoin finished first and second, respectively, in the March primary election.
