Los Angeles County Library director Skye Patrick was recently elected to the Executive Board of the Urban Libraries Council (ULC), a membership association of North America’s leading public library systems.
“The ULC Executive Board provides thoughtful leadership and guidance during a critical time for libraries and our democracy,” said ULC Board chair Michael Sherrod. “Skye Patrick comes to the board as a proven public servant ready to lead. She brings new and positive energy to an already strong board.”
Patrick was appointed LA County Library Director on Feb. 1, 2016. Before joining the L.A. County Library system, Patrick served as Broward County Library’s director.
“ULC is on the cutting edge of library innovations and Skye Patrick represents the new generation of innovative library leaders whose voice is important to be heard.” said Susan Benton, president and CEO of Urban Libraries Council.
In Los Angeles County, Patrick has focused on removing barriers and increasing access to information and services while simultaneously bringing one of the largest library systems in the United States into the digital age. Patrick’s appointment to the ULC board puts her at the forefront of industry innovations and best practices.
“I’m deeply honored to be elected to this role and to be part of the Executive Board,” Patrick said. “I look forward to working with this dynamic team of leaders, and supporting ULC’s mission to inspire libraries to evolve and grow.”
