The Farmer and The Chef Festival
Manuela celebrates the art of consciously sourced cooking with The Farmer and The Chef Festival on Sunday, May 28 as part of the Los Angeles Times Food Bowl. Ten Los Angeles chefs and 10 farmers will create flavorful, locally grown dishes. Participating chefs include Evan Funke, Nyesha Arrington, Kris Tominaga, Jason Kim, Nicole Rucker, Marshall Blair, Jerry Su and Jason Hall, while Schaner Farms, Flora Bella, Coleman Family Farms, Windrose, Rutiz, Straus Family Creamery, California Family Farms and Weiser Family Farms will be represented. Additionally, local bartenders will create signature cocktails using produce from the farms. Participating spirits companies are Mulholland Distilling, Wild Turkey, Black Cow, Campari, Greenbar and Cutwater Spirits. Bestia’s Ori Menashe will also serve a specialty cocktail. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, food stations and selections from local breweries. The event begins at 4 p.m. with music in the Hauser & Wirth courtyard. Baldoria anniversary
Baldoria in Little Tokyo is celebrating its first anniversary with $1 margherita pizzas for dine-in customers on Sunday, May 28 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Enjoy signature Neapolitan style pizzas with Baldoria’s bottled cocktails. Anniversary party in Playa del Rey
“Top Chef” Season 14 winner Brooke Williamson, and her husband and co-chef Nick Roberts, are hosting a party on Sunday, May 28 to celebrate Playa Provisions’ third anniversary. The four-in-one-concept restaurant is located steps from the beach. The party runs from noon to 5 p.m. with mini lobster rolls, burgers and hot dogs, and specialty cocktails such as a spiked coconut. The Stone Brewing Hop Wagon will visit Playa Provisions for the party, and families can enjoy face painting, a bounce house and music. Grand Central Market bread festival
The 3rd annual Carb Fest returns to the Grand Central Market on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4 celebrating Southern California bakers, chefs, millers and bread lovers. The free event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features bread-centric workshops and demonstrations. Learn how to make pita, biscuits and challah at bread-making workshop. Bakers featured in a pop-up marketplace include Antigua Artisan Bread, Bub & Grandma’s, Challah Hub, Ensaymada Project, Los Angeles Bread Bakers, Red Bread, The SpeakEasy Bakery and The Underground Bakery. New cocktail hour at The Edmon
The 1920s Hollywood-inspired dining destination The Edmon offers small bites from $6 to $9, cocktails for $7, beer for $5 and wine for $10 per glass every Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Executive chef Gabriel Cappelli serves curry deviled eggs, fried chicken, savory mushroom tartlets, poutine fries, eggplant sliders and roasted vegetable salads. Red Sun barbecue at Katana
Katana, an iconic space on the Sunset Strip, is serving a special dinner every Sunday through Sept. 3. New ‘liberated’ dining in Beverly Hills
The team behind Café Gratitude and Gracias Madre opened Gratitude Beverly Hills on May 24. Similar to the original Newport Beach location, Gratitude Beverly Hills will offer guests an elevated dining experience. The 100 percent organic plant-based menu created by executive chef Dreux Ellis includes “liberated” pad Thai with kelp noodles and “elated” mole enchiladas. Enjoy a “rosy” afternoon while sipping $5 rosé with any lunch item at Herringbone Santa Monica.
