The producers and creative team of the first ever revival of the award-winning Best Musical “Once on this Island” are on an international casting search to find one young woman to take on the lead role of Ti Moune when the show returns to Broadway later this year. They will hold an open casting call in Los Angeles on April 27 at Third Street Dance.
Tony Award-nominated director Michael Arden and the team from Telsey + Company will host the casting call.
“Once on this Island,” based on the Rosa Guy novel “My Love, My Love,” is the story of Ti Moune, a fearless young dreamer. After a massive storm rages through her village in the French Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea, a young man from the wealthy side of the island provides a ray of hope, and an unexpected romance blossoms. But when their different cultures threaten to keep them apart, Ti Moune begins a journey to stay beside the man who has captured her heart.
The musical debuted in May 1990, with the Broadway production opening that October. It accumulated eight Tony nominations including Best Featured Actress, Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical and Best Musical.
Third Street Dance is located at 8558 W. Third St.
