Los Angeles High School is holding its annual open house on Thursday, April 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Current and prospective families, alumni and community members are encouraged to attend what promises to be a fun and informative evening at Los Angeles’ most historic high school. The open house will showcase numerous programs. A highlight will be an Integrated Community Arts Pathway (ICAP) art show and the premier exhibit of the L.A. High Museum in the Ray Bradbury Library by the new museum studies class.

Environmental art and museum studies are part of the burgeoning ICAP at L.A. High School. The ICAP exposes students to different art mediums and encourages student interaction with the greater arts community and the interweaving of the arts throughout the school’s core curriculum.

Alumni will present two large L.A. High School banners from 1948 that were discovered at a local estate sale at 6:45 p.m. in the library. Additionally, a new space will be unveiled for the courtroom for Teen Court. Programs spotlighting the L.A. High parent center, academics, athletics and cheer, science fair, robotics, culinary arts, band program and drama courses will be included.

The open house sets the stage for a grand L.A. High School centennial celebration and fundraiser on Oct. 20-21. The school, originally founded downtown in 1873, moved to its 4650 W. Olympic Boulevard location in 1917. “The Harrison Trust Presents-A Roman Renaissance, Los Angeles High School Centennial” will celebrate 100 years of serving the community and will mark the beginning of a new direction for the school.
