Stage, screen and television performer Charlotte Rae will discuss her career on Wednesday, May 3 at 5 p.m. at the annual general meeting of Friends of the Beverly Hills Public Library.
Rae’s credits include her role as Mrs. Edna Garrett in the hit show “The Facts of Life.” She began her career in the 1940s Manhattan cabaret scene and later had roles during the “golden age” of television and with Shakespeare in the Park. She worked closely with Norman Lear and performed with Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Tammy Grimes, Joel Grey, Adam Sandler and Angela Lansbury, among many others. Rae will discuss her career with her son, Larry Strauss, with whom she co-authored a memoir, “The Facts of My Life.”
“Charlotte is a terrific storyteller, and her career provides great material,” said Friends of the Beverly Hills Public Library president Monique Gibbons. “Our meetings attract passionate readers with a lively interest in the performing arts and they are sure to find this year’s event highly entertaining.”
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in the Municipal Gallery at Beverly Hills City Hall. Light refreshments will be served. For information, visit friendsofbhlp.org.
