The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) selected member Diane Harkey as the board’s new chair, and George Runner as vice chair, at a meeting on Feb. 23. Harkey will also serve on the California Franchise Tax Board.
“As chair of the California State Board of Equalization and as the newest member of the Franchise Tax Board, I look forward to continue working with my colleagues to achieve the fair and equal administration of tax law to ensure all taxpayers are heard,” Harkey said. “I am grateful for this opportunity to serve with such talented and experienced board members.”
The BOE administers California’s sales and use, fuel, alcohol, tobacco and other taxes. The California Franchise Tax Board collects state personal income tax and corporate income tax. For information, visit boe.ca.gov.
