“There is simply no better place than the El Capitan Theatre to experience the magic of Beauty and the Beast,” said Ed Collins, the theatre’s general manager. “We take the showmanship of a previous and beloved era of movie exhibition very seriously here to make movie going an occasion for the memory books.”
The pre-show will be accompanied by a brand new “Beauty and the Beast” overture, arranged by Alan Menken’s longtime music director Michael Kosarin, in the style and tradition of the great classic roadshow film overtures. It was recorded by a 100-piece symphonic studio orchestra, and takes the audience through the best-loved songs from the 1991 animated film, as well as some of the gorgeous new songs written for this live-action version. Before and after the movie, guests will have the opportunity to see costumes, props and set dressing from the movie in a display in the lower lounge.
The theatre will also host Tiny Tot Tuesday on March 21 and 28, and April 4, 11 and 18. The movie will be screened on these dates with lights dimmed, rather than out, and lower sound levels.
Daily show times are 10:45 a.m., 3 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
The El Capitan Theatre is located at 6838 Hollywood Blvd. For information and tickets, visit elcapitantickets.com.
