Trefethen wine dinner at The Tam
On Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m., the award-winning Trefethen Winery will serve a selection of wine pairings with a special dinner at Tam O’Shanter. The pairings include a 2015 Trefethen Dry Riesling with a starter of salmon with ginger lime tiger’s milk. A salad will be paired with a glass of 2015 Trefethen Chardonnay, and New York steak will be paired with a glass of 2014 Trefethen Dragon’s Tooth. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is opening its second Los Angeles scoop shop on Thursday, Feb. 9 on Rose Avenue in Venice. Jeni Britton Bauer is a 2002 James Beard award-winning cookbook author. New restaurant on Sunset
Farida, a new by entrepreneur and chef George Abou-Daoud, is serving contemporary Middle Eastern cuisine. The menu pays tribute to the chef’s roots with dishes he grew up eating as a child. They are reflective of his Lebanese-Palestinian mother and Egyptian-Lebanese father. Sharable plates inspired by the regional cuisine of Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Morocco, Palestine and Israel are available. Birds & Bees hidden cocktail den
Recently opened in downtown Los Angeles, Birds & Bees transports guests to a 1950s-style setting with a skillfully-created cocktail program. The space in the basement of a high-rise office building on Broadway has been completely reimagined as a mid-20th century living room. Designed by David Poffenberger and Ryan Turner, of Raveled Studio, customers enter through a hidden alley that leads to a bright yellow door.
